GREATER AUSTIN · ONE-ON-ONE SAT MATH COACHING

Smart Student. Stuck Score. Let’s Find Out Why

Why Smart Students Plateau

If your child earns A’s in math but their SAT score stalls in the 600s, the gap usually isn’t content. It’s a pattern: the same kinds of points, lost the same way, test after test. Generic test preparation only answers this with more practice, repeating the pattern.

Every missed question has a cause, and I sort each one into one of five categories:

  • Careless errors: Your child knew the answer but made a small mistake

  • Misread: They answered a different question than the one asked

  • Method: Right idea, but the wrong approach

  • Content gap: A skill that isn’t quite there yet

  • Timing: The clock ran out before the question did
